Intel siap menggelontorkan chip Core 2 Quad untuk menghadang laju quad-core dan triple-core besutan AMD, dengan harga yang lebih murah. Nama chip baru tersebut adalah Core 2 Quad Q7600.

Saat kemunculan pertama Core 2 Quad Q7000 pada Januari lalu, chip tersebut sangat berbeda dengan seri Q8000, terutama dalam ukuran cache-nya.
